Our Story

Growing up, in a middle-class Nigerian home, our parents strongly believe that a good education was the investment that would drive a truly asymmetric outcome in our lives. To this end, ensuring that we got that education was their top priority and they sacrificed their time, money and, often, comfort to secure our future. This investment paid off handsomely and has afforded us the lifestyle and agency that our parents always dreamed of for us. Now, we feel a sense of responsibility to find ways to pay that investment forward to the next generation. Growing up, in a middle-class Nigerian home, our parents strongly believe that a good education was the investment that would drive a truly asymmetric outcome in our lives.  The challenge which has vexed policymakers, philanthropists, educators, parents, and students for so long has been that of how to deliver a high-quality education to every person regardless of the circumstances (country, socioeconomic status, gender, ethnicity, etc.) of their birth. How can we equip every child born into this world with the tools that give them the agency to pursue a fulfilling life and continue to turn the wheel of human progress?

Over the last several decades there has been extensive investment across the globe in identifying, implementing, and evaluating a wide array of potential solutions to just this challenge and we are creating the Lakepoint Youth Education Foundation to pick up the baton and take up the next leg in this race.
